It all started with an idea. After I received my Black Belt degree in South Korea in 1975 I came back to the US and settled in Ashfield, Ma. I began building a home and I dabbled with teaching Tae Kwon Do to one or two interested students back in 1978. We trained out in the driveway. I never imagined that I would someday build a dojang, hand built by myself and those students. One day, Bob and Lindsey, my soon to be wife, said “We should build a school”. And so we did, without electricity. Advertising was only through word of mouth but little by little the classes began and grew. By 1980, we had a functioning school and a few students. The school has grown and grown and finally we did get electricity in 1982 (a wise move). As of this writing some 50 years later we are still going strong.I hope you enjoy this introduction to our school and to the art of Tae Kwon Do.
